Upcoming Shore Walk

Join us for an upcoming shore walk focused on exploring coastal habitats, observing biodiversity and developing a deeper understanding of the natural environment.

Discover Life Between the Tides

The intertidal zone is the area of the shore that is regularly exposed to air during low tide and covered by water during high tide. It is a fascinating environment where marine organisms experience constantly changing conditions.

During our shore walks, participants get an opportunity to understand what the intertidal zone is, how tides influence marine life and how different organisms have adapted to survive exposure to waves, changing water levels, temperature and other coastal conditions.

Instead of simply walking along the shore, the experience focuses on observing, learning and understanding the organisms that live around rocky and coastal habitats.

What Will You Learn?

Understanding Tides

Learn how tides shape the intertidal environment and why the timing of a shore walk matters when exploring coastal biodiversity.

Understanding the Intertidal Zone

Discover the different conditions found between high and low tide and understand why this zone supports a unique community of marine organisms.

Animal Adaptations

Explore how marine animals cope with changing water levels, exposure to air, waves and other conditions of the intertidal environment.

Field Observation

Learn how to carefully search, observe and identify organisms while exploring the shore without disturbing their natural habitat.
